foodpanda, food delivering service, receives US$20 million funding deal

Foodpanda pandafoodpanda has just announced securing itself more than US$20 million in funding and will work on accelerating growth and optimizing customer service.

foodpanda, the global food delivery service has just announced securing more than US$20 million funding from a group of investors, with two of them being Investment AB Kinnevik and Phenomen Ventures. It has a focus on emerging markets and operates with its affiliated brand hellofood in 27 countries across four continents. Together, they reach out to more than three billion people worldwide.

The last few months have been very exciting for the two companies as well, with the launch of their mobile app for both iOS and Android. They have also partnered up with more than 15,000 restaurants and are dominating the majority of the countries they are operating in. Recently, they also reported their taking over of a competitor in Hungary, Ételvitel KFT.

With the new capital, Ralf Wenzel, global managing director of foodpanda, says that they will take a huge step forward and speed up growth and optimize customer service. “It’s our goal that foodpanda comes into everyone’s mind, when thinking about ordering food.”

foodpanda and hellofood are offering their services in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Hungary, Venezuela, Poland, Ukraine, Romania and Saudi Arabia.
